Riihimäen Vase... I think.
« on: December 28, 2005, 08:42:48 PM »
The last of my 3 purchases from yesterday. I think it's Tamara Aladin for Riihimäen, judging by the style, colour, shape... but I can't seem to find any reference to it online. Does anybody know it's origin, designer, name or when it was made?  :)

I think the jury's out on this one.  Millers Guides say it's by Aimo Okkolin, and Nigel Benson's book says it unattributed.

My money's on Nigel being right.

Oh, I didn't see it in Nigel's book - serves me right for just skipping through it quickly when I had a look yesterday!

Still, I knew I had seen it somewhere when I bought it! The one in the book is a touch taller than mine though.

Hi Nic

They seem to come in two sizes.  I found Nigel's book underneath my computer desk!

PS:  Sorry Nigel!  :D

Hi

J Miller 2005 pp323 confirms Nigel's book in part - by Aimo Okkolin for Riihimaki (Riihimaen Lasi Oy) called a 'Rocket Vase' c 1970

I can only see a 9.25" version in Nigel's book - Miller shows a blue one at 7.25" - same size as posted

I own a 7.25" green one
