I apologise for the dark background.  As you can see this vase has a sort of Knobbly appearance.  It is c.30cm tall and has thick walls - the rim as shown is about 1cm thick.  It has 6 lobes and each has a waved appearance.  Flat base makes me wonder about Murano BUT I have never seen a Murano piece I can remember without colour.  No makers marks that I can find.  The base is polished and flat.

I recently found this vase on the Designlasi site.

http://www.designlasi.com/content/maljakko-nurminen-olavi

It strikes me it is very much created the same way - the scalloping, the vertical lines, the thick glass.  The one on the site is signed "Olavi Nurminen, Nuutajärvi Notsjö -56".  Mine has no signature I can find.

Is there a Finnish specialist out there who might be able to help confirm one way or the other if it is from the factory and/or the same designer.

Mystery solved.  An identical vase in what seems to be neodymium glass has appeared on Ebay complete with an Hineri Sticker.

Thus, it is Japanese by Hineri one of the better makers I have seen.

Ross, could you ask the eBay seller for permission to copy the image with the sticker and add it to the Board for reference?

I will do that Kevin.  I have in fact made a bid for it - but your method would at least give us a proper image.

Dear clarice1200,
I decided to make a bid as it looks like it might be what is called neodymium glass and if so I collect that.

A small request ? I belong to a glass group that runs a sort of blog where we ask others to help us identify glassware we are unable to attribute correctly.  When we are able to do so, and your pictures have enabled me to solve my mystery, we try to put up photos of the object to show why we are now certain of our attribution.  I am hoping you would give permission for your photos to be added to our archive in case I do not win the piece in the long run.

Ross"

As you can see he is happy to have the images Attached used.

Stunning piece ahremck and definitely one the better pieces produced by Hineri Glass. Your a lucky person if you win. As much as I like it I won't bid on it. If you get it for under $50 it would be a bargain IMO. What is the weight on the piece?
