Is this a swedish glass vase ID = Zelezny Brod
« on: November 14, 2010, 04:45:26 PM »
Hi

Not a charity shop this time but a boot fair !!!! This is a chuncky 10 inch tall purpleish coloured glass vase with a flat polished base. This vase has the remnants of a small round paper sticker. To me it looks very swedish in shape and reminds me of some orrefors pieces but the colour looks to be more like something stromburg would produce

Many thanks for any info
Lewis

It might be Czech, possibly ZBS (Zelezny Brod), the colour is not what I would expect but that does not mean a lot....

Is it round?

are you able to show a picture of the remnant of the label - or is it literally too far gone? - and without any markings.

ZBS was my first thought too, however, also have slight reservations about the colour.

I believe ZBS did use a purplish-brown colour... see Jindrich's photos of the ZBS exhibition, particularly this picture:  http://picasaweb.google.com/Jindra8526/MuseumZeleznyBrod2009?authkey=Gv1sRgCP32qaus7sLMqAE#5437028564751440002

A few months ago I purchased on a flea market two vases, and ashtray and something small and round that could be a very small vase in this particular colour. No wear at all at the base, but they looked so ZBS - Klinger in design that I didn't even bother to research them as anything else. My take was that they were ZBS vases, designed by either Klinger or someone following similar designs, but produced fairly recently, and that this colour was one of their more recent additions.
