Clear and amber square bark effect vase, Germany?
« on: November 15, 2010, 03:16:03 PM »
A quality looking and feeling square vase of mixed clear and amber graduated glass. The base pedestal is square as is the vase and the interior of the vase sinks into the base area also. The base is slightly convex from its corners into a smooth small smooth dip. My feeling is 70s german for some reason. 19.5cm tall and 8cm wide.

I think this one might be Kumela or Humppila, this brown colour shading to clear was certainly used by both firms.
:)

From the small amounbt of research I have done on the net, it appears to look more like Kumela than Humppila but if anyone knows for sure????

Haha, actually another two names... ;) I've had a look on designlasi but unfortunately I can't find anything quite like your vase. The reason I thought Kumela is because I recently bought a textured vase in a very similar colour to yours which turned out to be a Kaj Blomqvist design for Oy Kumela. Kumela was acquired by Humpilla in 1976 I think. Finnish glass isn't really my strongpoint though.
