Does anyone know who might have made this large paperweight - or the canes in it? I wonder whether it might be German (Thuringia), but that is just a vague thought.  Diameter 3.5 inches, flat polished base like Murano weights.  The spidery white lines appear to be thin threads of white glass, presumably there by accident.

" thin threads of white glass " could be trapped air from the canes cooling to much causing creases or wrinkles so when the final glass is put over the top it traps air

Hi, I used to hear some things before about a *Spider* mark in glass.  What is that?  Is it real, or just the way some areas of glass look like....

Curious pwt. I cannot convince myself completely that it is Venetian. It appears to be older. I've searched a few of the older Bohemian and antique Chinese paperweights, but can't find anything similar. I hope someone can positively id this pwt.
