I am getting increasingly aggrieved with eBay sellers who are allowed to sell products purporting to be made by well known makers and therefore potentially valuable!

Whilst I do from time to time report glaringly obvious deliberate attempts to defraud,  I feel very strongly that it is time eBay had the same attitude to these listings as they do to a pair of Armani Jeans, and the seller be obliged to prove that an item is Wedgwood, Iittala etc. Particularly when the attribution is used in the title.

Is there anyone out there who agrees with me on this?
Is there anything we can do about it?
If not, isn't it about time there was something we could do about it?

Sorry...I think I might have unintentially hi-jacked this subject... :hj:  :wsh:

Couldn't agree more Rosie!
I've reported obvious fakes before on ebay & you get an email saying how seriously they take it but the item is still let up for sale.........

They only make a fuss for things like designer clothes because the big designers can afford to sue.

Nobody's going to do this over glass. They don't have the financial clout.

I guess you are right - I just feel sorry for any buyers who get caught out.

This is where I think the decision to remove the names of bidders was wrong.  At least before, you could (and I did!) alert a bidder to the fact that they may not realise the item was not 'as described' and usually they were very grateful for the 'heads up'.

Perhaps we should lobby eBay to reinstate that, or insist that all messages are added to the bottom of the listing, not just the ones the seller chooses???

the trouble with displaying all messages is that it would be too open to abuse  >:(
