Can you identify this glass piece?

We are currently renovating our mid-1700's home and found this item in a wall.
It's about 5" in length.  Can you tell me what it is?  Thanks.

Hi

it appears to be a ladle for a mayonnaise set or whipped cream set. I have some of these as parts of American Elegant Depression Glass sets, and they are also documented in my books as such.
I cant say for sure that yours is one of these, but it looks very similar to mine

here is an example of one of my sets

Cheri, Thank you for your response. I think that's exactly what it is.

Thanks again.

yes....it sure is weird that it would be in a wall.....and it looks totally undamaged too!

BTW aloe, these ladles sell well on their own as many collectors are looking for them to complete the sets.

It is strange that it was found in a wall. We're lucky one of the guys spotted it in a pile of plaster he had just pulled down.

I can't imagine how it got there or why someone would put it there. But thanks again for the info. I'm glad to know it's worth a little something, but we'll probably hang on to it for a while as a keepsake from the project.

Many a great thing can be found in walls. I've seen tankards, Delft, and of course, the odd Bomb.

I found a toothbrush once.  :?
