Blue Heavy Glassed Bowl
« on: December 23, 2010, 03:54:29 AM »
 :hi: Just got this.

I believe it to be Murano.  It is a small heavy Glass bowl.  You can see 3 definite layers in it.  The Clear, a light blue line, and then the blue inside.  It has like Gold Flecks in it.  About 4 by 5 inches wide.  Very Heavy.  Good base wear on the bottom.  Would this be Barbini maybe ?? as a guess??

Thanks as always  :kissy:

hi rose,,

is it Barbini ? That was my 1st thought, however, my own example and others I have seen online only have 2 crimped sides, rounded at the ends.

I don't think its Barbini, Murano, yes.

Sorry for not having anything further to help you, but thats my thoughts,,

luck  :chky:

Thanks soledivo  :kissy: (Merry Xmas too)....   :ru:

Maybe I should not have referred to this as a Bowl....maybe it is an Ashtray (??)   As those crimped edges look like for holding smokes there.  I have been looking around and did find this item HERE on Ebay.  Looks a bit larger than mine -- but kinda the same.  Know nothing about that Seller, and his attributions....so ????

Would that make any difference for the amount of crimped edges?  Here is another pic taken above it.

So maybe this is an Ashtray -- rather than a Bowl.  I might have to have the MOD add ashtray to the title......

I wouldn't worry about the ashtray description,

the ebay seller's description is certainly colourful.

It's only my thoughts on your bowl, some of the other members who are far more experienced than me might well agree with you re. if its by Barbini.

There are so many variations of this design that without a label or the coveted signature its difficult to pin the maker down.

Its a good example none the less,

have a lovely xmas  :kissy:
