I really don't see this Pansy paperweight as an 1880 Baccarat piece - but it is well made. Any thoughts on the maker?

I agree with jp.  More photos would be nice.  The listing (not the weight itself) reminds me of Travis' wonderful mystery weight .... gorgeous, different, and only 2 photos.  I believe it was also from a French seller.

Any chance it's not antique?  It looks to be in perfect condition (then again, a good restorer can work miracles).  No matter what, I really do like this one.  I'll be watching the auction with interest and maybe a little  :mrgreen: too.

Modern - yes, I'm pretty sure you are correct.

I think it probably by Gilles Gicquel, who used to work at Baccarat.  The paperweights on his website have similar flowers and stem shapes - something 'Kaziun' about them, as well as 'modern French'.  I should have thought of him straight away, as I met him a couple of years ago. As I recall the prices were in line with modern Baccarat pieces.

Definitely modern in my book. My first thought was also Gilles. The central stamen cane has a decidely Baccarat look to it. Might also be the same person who made all the pansy weight for Farfalla Paperweights (who it is said was with St. Louis).
