I can't get a picture of the signature, but it looks like it starts with Ed...

Thanks for any help.

It looks as thought the signature is on a white base.  If so there are three possible methods to help photograph it,

1.  Take a photo at a very shallow angle towards the sun or a bright light source so that the base reflects light but the signature will appear darker.
2.  Lightly use a black texta across the signature which will hopefully leave it showing as white against the blackened base.
3.  Get a darkish powder and lightly rub it across the signature so the groove is filled.  Wope off excess - hopefully the signature is visible now.

Good luck with the photography.

Hi...I just posted another picture of the bottom of the paperweight -- I know it's still difficult to read, but maybe someone will recognize it.

Thanks for looking -- I really appreciate it!

Great picture, Marcie. :hiclp: :hiclp: :hiclp:

The 1975 date looks right for the style "hearts and Vines was a common style in the 70s.  I suspect Daniel Edler might be your maker.  Look up http://www.edlerstudio.com/ and you will see he has been in business long enough - 35 years is too long for most you might find.  If you want I would email him with the photo - I find most artists are rapt to see an early work being enjoyed still.

I got the name from a great site http://www.worldartglass.com/index.asp which has many other Artists staring with E listed if this turns out to be a false start.
