Lovely Gold Chance Plain Jug with White Crinkle
« on: January 07, 2011, 01:39:57 AM »
 Is this jug what David mentioned in his update few months ago on Chance pressed glass see below. The jug is 6 inch high and gap between gold lines is 1/4 inch with lovely golden rim. Here are the photos.;

.This is what David said about the Jug in his Update last time::
(Another oddity is the "Plain Jug" made for Lowit. note it is a "plain" jug, so we assume there is no identifiable pattern. However, this is decorated with these very precise instructions:
Apply 1 crinkle band to base 1¼" wide and 1 crinkle band ¾" above. ¾" wide. Apply one ¼" gold line between crinkle bands, 4 gold lines above crinkle and apply gold to rim

Perhaps we have been wafting past this jug before, assuming it wasn't Chance. One ounce of gold only decorated 30 jugs, so it should stand out - now I'm sure I've seen one of these before somewhere... Anyway, this is why I directed people from the Crinkle posting by Keith.)

 :thud:

I'm going to have to come back to this later. Following the description David gave (very, very vague, whispers in the back of my head) I bought a jug with gold stripes and pink (eeeeeeeeek) crinkles.

The jug is exactly the same shape and size as this - but the pattern of stripes and crinkles is different.
I will have to get a pic.

Ming, I'm pretty sure this is a Sherdley "Bamboo" jug - Chris Harrison has a nice engraved example http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-6665, Ray had one with an RAF crest (see image below), I think Heidi bought the decorated set (see image below), and I had a plain one like the advert one until I managed to crack it in two!

Sue is yours like one of these ref piccies I have of the pink or blue crinkles?
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Thank you. Anne.
I think you are right and back to the drawing board. Start looking again.
Do you think the gold rim is really gold?

Exactly the same as that, Anne. Whew - it can go back to a charity shop and I don't need to photograph it.

Yes, Ming, it's real gold. There isn't an effective substitute.

Good try Ming - no prizes ;) Definitely Sherdley as I've had one for ages. Want a matching one with green crinkles? Water the plants in half the time?  ;D

I did find a jug that did meet the description on eBay recently, but the price was too steep to risk it so I left it. Not a problem, with Chance Additions pretty much wrapped up with regard to images and text, I'll post any late-comers on the web site.
