Iittala Pitcher & Glassware ID help PLEASE
« on: January 15, 2011, 01:51:33 PM »
I can't seem to find this pattern of glassware anywhere.  Can anyone help identify the pattern and perhaps the designer associated?  Thank you in advance.

Hi, I searched my Iittala book (which is quite an effort because the pics are way too small)

But at least this is the first item I am able to help with an ID here :)

Your glasses are from the "New York" range by Valto Kokko, designed in 1985, produced 1986-1988 (for export only).

Brilliant!  Rocco, thank you so much for your time and effort.  I'm truly grateful.

I'd love to have a book on Iittala's output.  When was yours published and who is the writer?

Hi Michael :)
glad I could help!

The book I referred to is "Iittala: 125 Years of Finnish Glass", by Marianne Aav, Publisher: Arnoldsche Verlagsanstalt GMBH (February 25, 2007)
Seems to be out of print...

Nice book, but the images of the catalogue section are really so small you can hardly see any details of the designs.

Greetings from Vienna
Michael

That's a shame that it's no longer in publication. I could really use a few books on nothing but Scandinavian glassware/stemware, etc. I go to charity shops so often, I'd like to be able to recognize the lesser known pieces. Thanks for the tip on the book. I will keep an eye out for a second hand copy.

All the best....
