Monart or not ?
« on: January 23, 2011, 01:44:50 PM »

This bowl is being sold as Monart, though shape is very similar to the catalogued shape UB, it is colour scheme and type of decoration on the bowl that I have not seen on a Monart piece (so far). Can anyone help out in identifying this particular bowl.

It looks a lot more like WMF than Monart to me......

Absolutely agree with Sue - WMF Ikora...  :)

Just had a quick look at the Ikora book by Burschel / Scheiffele. It seems to be shape and decor
number E 519 / 4090 from their 1933 catalogue. Surely one of the rarer colourways and quite
attractive IMHO.

This is definitely Ikora.  I would describe the pattern as uncommon, rather than rare.

Thanks for your assistance, Paul. With english not being my first language I tend to miss
those subtle differences.

Alles in Butter Dirk, keine Sorgen.  What I really meant, though, is that there are some examples of Ikora that are truely "rare," while others are merely "uncommon," and this pattern is more of an uncommom piece than a really rare piece.  This is a very nice piece of glass.  Viele Gruesse Dirk.
