Who was Seguso Dalla Vetri
« on: March 27, 2011, 11:55:18 PM »
Looking at a couple of lamps on ebay.au and I thought they were A.S. until I looked closely at them. One has a label that says Seguso Dalla Vetri. Anyone know anything about this company?

Bev the owner of the lamp kindly sent me the photo's of the label and her lamp.

regards

Ardy

I know Elio Raffaeli use to work for the company when he was 15 years old and trained under Mastreo Piero Scaramal.  The company made a lot of bowls and vessels with fish in them and a lot of people on Ebay misattribute the pieces to Barbini or Cenedese.  Here is a past thread and thanks to Anita she set the record straight.

It is actually Seguso Dalla Veneziana. We had a thread that had their fish ashtrays a year or two ago.

I was just doing an SDV label and realized it it Venezia and not Veneziana. I like that extra syllable for some reason.

Thanks for pointing out Tami's thread, Anne. I went from the first to the third message when I was reading, so missed Tami's. Sorry, Tami.

Hi kane - go for it if it interests you. I won't be bidding as it is not A.S., looks well made though.

Will have a good look through the local site to see what is there. I am getting a little picky, I am looking for better bits and prepared to spend more but less often.

I was going to post a message to you as there was a great piece of SVdA on design and arts.

Had a look at the ebay.au and none of the A.S. tempts me.

There is a seal and a few birds all from same seller that look well made. No idea who made them but maybe Anita might want to have a look?

It didn't have bubbles though Ardy so I wont be bidding on it. Although it did go for $117 dollars. Thankfully I got the white one for $112...

Some of it is pretty boring but I have noticed a large increase in labeled pieces coming up for sale. Which is interesting.

Nothing on Design and Arts has tempted me for while. There is one or 2 listed at the moment that I might consider, but one doesn't have a label. I prefer to buy a few things at a time from D&A as it makes the shipping the worth while.
