Thanks CJF. That makes sense, especially since the numbering is from pre 5 digit system. You don't happen to know a source for the codes of the other Kosta designers from that era, apart from Lindstrand?

Thanks.

Ernest Gordon was G, so at Kosta GD was engraved, GS cut, GH hand formed, GG engraved

Thanks for Gordon, Taylog. That leaves the Warffs, pretty much. Were they simply Warff?

Following on from that does anybody know what 'Sa. S' means. I'm pretty sure it's a Mona M-S piece, it's a two colour bowl with mirror cuts, but I cant work out (or find another example of) the 'Sa' part.

Full mark is 'Kosta Sa. S 5775'

Could you post a picture? I suspect that this one could possibly be by Owe Sandeberg...

Re the Warffs, back to Smoke & Ice again where an examples is shown as: Kosta/production no/Warff, this seems to apply for Ann or Goran.

No worries Martyn, Interesting to know some of the other codes, just going to have to try and remember all of these now!

You'll also sometimes see BH for Elis Bergh - the reissued ones in the late 1950's

After this thread, I realised I had forgotten a great deal about Kosta (and everything else) so I went back to read 'Kosta 250," the book produced as part of Kosta's 250th anniversary. It seems that there was even greater variation in the signature system than I thought, particularly in the late 50's/60's. For example, they have examples of Ventana with no code and signed Mona Morales, Mona Schildt, and Mona Morales-Schildt. The book lists every master blower and cutter who records say worked at Kosta and yet it doesn't provide a list of the code numbers for the designers.
