Could this be a Seguso bowl?
« on: February 12, 2011, 01:16:34 PM »
I've had this bowl for many years and had always assumed it was Seguso but not completely sure.
Looking to get some opinion from those of you in the know.

Is it uranium glass? Have you checked it under a UV light?

(PS A lot of people won't look at a thread with a title like this. See here http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,17458.0.html
People figure that if you can't be bothered with a descriptive title, why should they bother.)

Not sure if it's uranium glass, have never checked.

And thanks for the heads up in regards to subject line. Will be much more creative and direct next time.

thanks.

Mod: I have changed the thread title.

You have a wonderful bowl there!  I am not sure who made it either but it appears to be executed very well.  I too wonder if it glows under UV light. :tof:

It certainly is a great bowl. I don't know who did it, Rob, but Seguso would have been my thought, too.

The other possibility is Barovier and Toso. Those blue blobs are found on their pieces although the rest of the piece isn't typical B & T. Here's my piece. See what you think.

That's a beautiful bowl David.

So many possibilities it would seem.
I think half the fun of collecting unsigned pieces is trying to find other examples of glass that are similar or exact copies. Perhaps I just have too much time on my hands!

Thanks again for your interest.
