Topic: Unusual piece of Strathearn to show.

I hope nobody minds me bumping this - I am currently temporarily reminded of the notion that if a mould is made for reproducing effects in glass (unless it's one of the sorts that is only ever used once as it is destroyed by the use) there should be more than one piece around!

Is anybody aware of Strathearn having a mould for optic ribbing at any time - it must have, or this bit wouldn't exist - was it on loan? Did something happen to it? Is somebody quietly sitting on a huge private collection of it?

I would have thought there should be more optic ribbed bits around, given it needs a mould - you know, a great chunk of engineered metal - seems daft if they had one and only used it once.
And clear yellow?  I'd have thought that would be used more often too!
Brian Wallace-King has never seen or heard of a bit of Strathearn like this before - and he's a seriously dedicated Strathearn collector.

well they made red and blue clear pieces ect so why not yellow, its the ribbing thats weird and unusal i think, not so much the colour though i havent seen yellow in clear i have seen other colours in clear

I've seen the other clear colours too - loads of them - and I like them a lot. It's still the first clear yellow anybody I know of who knows Ysart glass, has heard of - as well as the ribs!
I found it in Rait Antiques Village - do you ever venture there Gary?

Never seen such before but you are right... more will surface in the next 20 years or so... Just leafed through a batch of Strathearn images I have for the SG site and not a single optic in 70+ So one more I need to get on SG  :X:

That collection is top of the heap when I get restarted on SG additions... ohhh for more time!

Oh Frank - I hope that wasn't Brian W-K's collection you trawled - I've already said in an earlier post here....
