Is this an Early Mdina Vase?
« on: February 14, 2011, 08:56:20 PM »
Hi,
I came accross this vase and I wasn't sure if it was Mdina. I had a look in the Mark Hill Book and it looks similar in colour, but I couldn't find the shape.
Any help would be great! It measures approx 8.5 inches tall.
Thanks again
Vickie

 :hi:
Yes, absolutely.
It's a Mdina cylinder vase, Ming pattern. I had to check the book myself - and you're right - it's not iilustrated. :thud:
The nearest is the textured tortoiseshell cylinder vase, top left, p.53.
These vases come in Ming and Earthtones patterns, or, when textured in a mould, in the traditional blue background with a main silver chloride yellow streak with random bits, or in Tortoiseshell.

Yes, indeed.

I don't think they're all very early, but they are all MH's designs, and according to the book, around '70s-'80s.

Thank you very much for the info Christine and Sue! All I need now is my book - I've lost it in the house somewhere! :ho:
Bye for now
