Sea Glasbruk bowl ?
« on: February 17, 2011, 09:41:48 PM »
Anyone help with this bowl more pink than red cased in clear with a white stripe within the casing.
Etched on base Sea 545 so presume Sea Glasbruk, gave up on google page after page for Sea Glasbruk bowl came up with candy bowl all seemed to be modern recycled.
Any thoughts on age or designer would be helpful.

Hi Chris, there's a very similar bowl in the book "Scandinavia Glass - Fire and Sea", on page 135, identified as Sea Glasbruk 1960's, no word on designer though.

Looks everso like a Flygsfors bowl on eBay at the moment Chris,....no signature on it though.

I'd still go with what it says on the bottom, SEA. I don't think the piece on eBay is Flygsfors as it differs in many ways, thickness of the glass, colours, and shape.
I'd think it much more likely that the one on eBay is also Sea, whose pieces are occasionally unsigned. They did create pieces with the white line trimming the main colour. I've attached a picture of one of mine which is marked Sea.
