Triple cased decanter with very long thin stopper
« on: March 30, 2011, 02:52:50 PM »
Any thoughts on this very heavy triple cased decanter would be much appreciated.  The whole thing glows nicely under a U.V. light.  Its very much like a tall bottle vase that I posted previously which members agreed was Murano, but actual maker unknown.  I've shown them together to show the similarities.  Someone hopefully might recognise the maker from the design  ;D

The decanter is very heavy at 2389g and in total measures 50cm high (19½").  Flat polished base with age related wear.  I'm guessing it dates back to the 50-60s or thereabouts.

TIA ;D

I've seen bottles of this form without a stopper attribute to Seguso VdA. The layers are crisp enough that I believe the attribution. Gorgeous, gorgeous bottle. How did the stopper ever survive?

I would be hesitant to buy this as Poli due to the colour and the form. It doesn't look right. The bottle part I am sure has been listed here before...

Thank you folks   Much appreciated.
It is kind of special.  However, it nearly got me locked up taking it through the security check-in at the airport last weekend, but that's another story :wsh:

Gorgeous thing Anne. Lucky my partner Alison doesn't look at this site I would be sent out on a search and find IMMEDIATELY order.

The sommerso does remind me of a piece we have but the stopper/dipper is broken on ours. We only kept it because we love the sommerso on it.

Will post picture later.
Clean and Crisp a Murano twist.
Archimede tops my list.
