Carnival bowl?
« on: January 21, 2006, 07:53:26 PM »
One of today's treasures was a carnival bowl - at least I think it's carnival although it's very plain. It was offered reduced with some other items and because it reminded me of the Bagley Queen's Choice pattern I said yes. The long scratches have been there since manufacture, as they are iridescent.

Can anyone help with who made it please? The ribbing is only on the inside, although the irridescence is inside and out. Two part mould. Clear glass and a good rich colour and irridescence.

Butchiedog [Mike] identified one similar, of mine as Lancaster glass and also Glen has written a superb article on Carnival glass somewhere. I have to go out now, so have to rush, try the 'search ' with 'CARNIVAL' and you will be able to find those postings.
Good luck Ruth.

Here is the link to Glen's article. Your bowl looks more like Carnival than mine ever did.

Christine - your bowl is marigold Carnival glass. I have two that are its brothers and sisters (they are used as fruit bowls - and very practical too). The press moulded design is on the interior, as you say. I'm not certain who made the bowls - there are a number of similar Wide Panel or Wide Rib patterns in Carnival, but I haven't been able to match this specific item with absolute certainty to a maker.
