Aahh so! We're talking the coach-bolt pontil, grand! That's quite unusual, earlier than the flame. I was told they were just playing around with ideas and a coach-bolt came to hand! I've got a Kerry globe vase the same design as your cylinder, but it has a flame pontil mark.

:? I was once told that Kerry put the flame on their pontil facing in the other direction, but I don't know if that's an urban myth, because mine is the same way as IOWSG.

Hi TC,
The brass frog pattern on your Loetz!!!!!!! has exactly the same pattern as mine, mine also fits very loosly. I don't believe there is any damage at all just a bit confusing due to the impressed pattern coming right to the top. It also stands at a fraction under 5" and the diameter is 6", there is also very narrow or shallow "foot" of about 1/4". Do there measurements ring a bell :?:
Cheers,
Bryn (not Brian)
It's a minefield out there :!:  :!:

Yes, it is exactly the same size as mine and has a shallow foot too.

We have spoken about these in the link below but no maker has been Identified yet.

Hi Sue,
Yes, I remember David Tolley of IOW telling me the same thing about Kerry glass, ie. he said they were identical, one having the name Kerry and the other IOW. :?  Nothing about the flame facing the opposite way.
I notice there is a person with your user name who occasionally posts questions on the IOW site, are you one and the same? :o
By the way is your Kerry piece pink as well :!:
Cheers,
Bryn (not Brian)

Yes, That's me on the IOWSG forum, but not anywhere else!

None of the people who are using that name and variant spellings of it on eBay are me!

I don't use the IOWSG forum too often - I don't seem to get much response, although I have had correspondence with Ron Wheeler of Artius Glass resulting from it.

No, my Kerry piece isn't pink, it's the "Shamrock", splodgy blue and olivey-brown.

:? I don't know about your pink piece at all. :?

Bits of it whisper "Maltese connection" and others don't!

I've got some bits that confuse me too. They whispered just the same things!

Hi Sue, Thanks, i get your drift.
Yes, I think we are about the only one's using the IOW site. Responses are slow and inconsistent but probably accurate when given. But woe betide you should you not take the information when given as read.
I, Lyndhurst44 have experienced the wrath.

I have two Kerry paperweights with labels, that have their flame marks the wrong way round , and it was confirmed in an answer to my post on the paperweight bit of this board http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,6145.0.html
that IOW and Kerry were connected, but Kerry lost their flame stamp and made a new one the wrong way round!  I thought that was so Irish!
Thank you very much!
