Help ID Crown mark on Cut Crystal Bowl - ID = Webb Corbett
« on: April 13, 2011, 12:54:19 PM »
   Hi All :hi:,

I would appreciate if anyone could help me ID the Crown Mark on this cut crystal bowl please!!
I bought it a few months ago and look at the time but couldn't see any markings, then Ona day last week I was getting ready to wrap it up when I noticed the Crown Mark as I put it down on a dark surface!!!

                     Warmest Wishes,

                         John

Thanks Anne  :kissy:  It really is a lovely quality Bowl, not my usual kind of thing to buy but it was the end of the day and it was one of the last items left on a stall at a local boot fair, the lady said "make me an offer" I went in stupidly low and she accepted!!! Heres a piccy, doesn't really do it Justice, I'm no David Bailey and I'm also struggling to get used to my new Camera!!

That looks nice John, I really like Webb Corbett. I've found a few pieces in charity shops, almost always marked but often so feint that it's easy to miss the mark. I'm finding I have a growing crystal collection now. (and I shouldn't be encouraged in it as I've no room!!!)

Webb marks can be in odd places - I found a cocktail jug (Clyne Farquarson, wiggly line and leafy thing design) - a hot worked glass body - heat finished rim, complete with all it's metal paraphernalia - I recognised the design before I found the mark - which was on the bottom of the handle.

This bowl would look lovely with trifle in it.

Oooh! Trifle Sue, Is that an offer? I'll have to pop in with the bowl for you to fill with lovely TRIFLE!!!!LOL
But seriously, I know what you mean about the marks being difficult to see, took me weeks to find it, lots of people asked me who the maker was, and I could only suggest a few Quality makers, it Rings like a bell!

                                       Warmest Wishes,

                                            John
