« on: April 08, 2011, 09:20:51 PM »
2.25" diam - with lots of bubbles and a cobweb of 'sand' yellow

Label to base just says made in Malta - is it Mdina

Thanks Adam

My heart sinks when I read "early Mdina?" in a title, I always assume I'm going to have to let somebody down - but not in this case!
A clear piece with crizzling does indicate early - but I don't honestly know exactly how early. They're certainly more scarce than coloured ones.
This label also indicates early-ISH - but I've seen them on pieces with designs I know to be made well after MH left.
I'd guesstimate pre-'80.

Me too, mid to late 1970s.

This made in Malta label is a bit earlier as far as I can tell: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-11791

I'm not so sure, John - I reckon this style could well be of the Harris period, or at least the Dobson period after that, ie. pre '75.
When it comes to the great big disc ones with the sea-urchiny shape inside, the clear and crizzle ones are considerably more scarce than the coloured ones. I can't honestly be sure, this is just my guts blethering. There really isn't a lot of "crizzle in clear" Mdina around.
