Yes he has confirmed it... he and I have been discussing the piece. He sent me a copy of the newsletter that image was contained in because he knew I would find the image very interesting......  and I did.

I was playing with my camera the other day and took this image which I think is the best one of this piece.  The mystery has never been resolved....

I was very surprised to learn Ron's was cased - but I do know now, thanks!

But you can tell the actual colour from my image - deep amethyst, tending to browns, not pinks. And this is bright pink.

I still really do not think Michael Harris had anything to do with this piece of yours.

 ;D

Perhaps the only way a cast iron id could be made is if another turned up that was signed.

I might as well repeat myself, the way those zig zags are formed is very distinctive, short of handling it and just going on the photos, there is not one feature that would preclude it from being made at Mdina.

The controversy continues.  After review with Ron, and his showing and discussing the images and piece with Michael's widow and father, the common consensus was that the piece would have to be handled in person to make a final determination. Neither of his family members could rule it out as not being a piece by him.......  So when I take a trip to the other side of the pond, I know one thing I will be taking with me.....  Until then I guess I will have to just enjoy it......

I reckon it's probably the same for both John and me - the only way to be sure would be to have it in your sticky mitts.

It's just I'm weighted on the nay and John balances it on the yay. :spls:

Isn't that what makes the world go round.....  Would be a rather boring place if we all thought the same thing......

Having handled it and seen it up close I would lean with John, but it is not my area of expertise, so in the long haul I defer to those that know best....  Oh that's right....  you guys don't agree...   ;D

We do agree, we just can't reconcile our opinions. :D

Who knows, we might both change our minds if we could get our sticky mits on it. ::)

I'd probably reconcile with John's opinion if it's amethyst.

But it is pink. (shudder)

I do recall seeing seeing one the same or very similar at a fair around a year ago. Similar colouring and Zig Zag patterned trailing around the body, my first thoughts were possibly Scandinavian or Czech.

The piece I saw didn't strike me as Mdina at the time, probably kick myself if it does turn out to be Mdina!
