Possible Richardson match holder...
« on: August 09, 2014, 07:52:13 PM »
Picked this up today to add to the other eleven, in Brit' Glass1800-1914 there is a paragraph relating to controlled bubble match holders made by Richardsons, this one has a polished pontil mark and loads of wear I suppose most factories did similar but there seems to be a lot in this area, link to some of the others..... ;D

Don't know how you keep finding these things Keith ;D             I've only ever seen one, and now seems I've give that away as I can't find it........   probably went out with the last box of bits to the charity shop.

you seem to be finding the attractive ones  -  I think this is the link to the last time we chatted about these things  -    http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,54738.msg310218.html#msg310218

Think they must be local as the shop I got most from is only a couple of miles from Stourbridge and they always have some in, ;D

Hi,

I've always believed this style decoration to be from the 1920's/30's rather than pre WWI which is suggested by your use of "British Glass 1800-1914". Am I missing something?

Thanks, Nigel

I'm going on the only reference I can find to these objects, bottom of page 308 of 20th C.B.G. most have heavy wear so I presumed they had some age but as we know it's not always a reliable indication, ::) ;D ;D
