Hoof shaped cased vase ID = Milan Metelak
« on: April 29, 2011, 01:22:44 PM »
Was wondering if anyone could help ID this vase. I thought it was quite unusual and hoof shaped is the best description I can give (when turned upside down it looks like a horses hoof. It's 7.25 inches tall and 3 inches across (at the widest). Heavy for its size at over 1kg and with quite a lot of base wear. Many thanks in advance.

Looks kind of Czech and Milan Metalak, maybe worth checking around.

I can certainly see some similarities there. Thanks, I will look into it.

Hard to tell exactly but it looks like my vase in the Hi Sklo Lo Sklo Exhibition pictures on Mark Hills website. Eighth photo down on the right.

Could a Mod add Czech? to the title. Many thanks.

I'd be fairly certain that this is indeed a Metelak for Harrachov design. The shape of the rim might be slightly different from other pieces you've seen, but it's part of that series. Here's another variation, one where a prunt with inclusions has been added.

Shouldn't this be in the Czech section? As the other one here was moved http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,42700.0.html

I guess it missed the boat.

Definitely a Milan Metelak design, I have seen a few more recently and there are quite a few variations on this theme.
