Hi Pat,

Not really my subject, but did any Murano firm ever make these? I sometimes see them attributed as such but always felt it was just the seller being badly informed.

The Caithness 'teardrop' buds are often sold as Whitefriars (who did also make similar ones) but very rarely described as Caithness!

Hi David,
I have never found a vase with a Murano label, but there are several types I have not identified yet, so I can't say for sure.  I have one on my site which I have attributed to Murano, but ONLY because of the provenance it came with (I have made this very clear on the site).  I am sure the person who sold it to me believed it to be so, but I have to say that the more I learn of the vases the more I am thinking that this particular vase is NOT Murano.  Maybe they were sold in Italy but imported from elsewhere?  My gut instinct now thinks it is more likely to be Czech.  The style and size of the bubbles and the way the base is finished lead me to this conclusion.
This is why it helps me to see the bases Jeroen!   :)

Sorry I lied!
I have found one with a Murano label, but not seen in the flesh.  I did put in an initial bid for this one on ebay  7383524310, but didn't want to bid too high as it looked a little lopsided to me, also a couple purchased from the US have never arrived, so I was a bit reluctant.  :(

With it being Venini, I'm surprised it never sold! But as it was on Reserve (I think it's $50 minimum) might have put some people off.

See what you mean about it doing 'Pisa' impressions

Hi All,
Whilst looking for another post I came across this one again.  I have now identified this purple vase as having been made in Japan.
