the mark suggests a date somewhere between the late 1920's and late 1930's. Quite a good 'ding' - and size wise they measure something like 2.5" tall and 2.5" wide. But what were they used for - I really can't think, so hope someone might have a suggestion. Thanks for looking.

my thanks to both of you...........well it just goes to show.......I wud never have had them down as drinking glasses. They looked more like egg cups for big eggs.
How about Bowmore from Islay - very bonfire ish - and I guess you are just reminiscing Sue :t:
