Anik, I guess what I dislike in the typical Czech basket designs (apart from being totally useless for :fwr: or :sm:) is this twisted thingie where the handles come together.
Distracts from the shape itself...

BTW, today at the fleamarket I saw 3 different Mstisov baskets! One Romana, one Rhapsody and one Opera (which was the most beautiful). I resisted. ;D

This piece arrived from back East (i.e. Ontario) the day before I received the new Sypka catalogue with a picture in it of a similar piece. Again, a monster, only 9" tall but very solid.  It's by Hora.

An interesting piece, David.  I don't seem to find any newer Skrdlovice designs here.  Is it 1980s?

By the way, I've just read on Jindrich's website the sad news of Jan Juda's passing. :-\   May he rest in peace.

1988 according to Sypka. Very sad about Juda. So many of that generation are now gone.

David, I would call this an "interesting" design ;D
Not sure if I like it or not; but well -- I never thought I would ever buy design from the 1980ies, and now I own two vases from that questionable period :help:

Anik, thanks for the nice comment -- no need to be jealous with your wonderful ever growing collection :)

Michael:  My feelings exactly. I confess I like a blue Stahlikova, which arrived the following day, better, but the Hora piece is imposing when you actually see it. Imposing and interesting, that about sums it up.
