The standard work on the topic is Bob Hall's book "Old English Paperweights" (Schiffer 1998) - where you find details (including many images) of the manufacturers mentioned in the ebay auction as possibilities - just some rough points in time:
Bacchus and Son: around 1850
Richardson: before WWI
Arculus: after WWI (1848 canes are known)
Walsh-Walsh: before/during WWII
So it covers a fairly long time period.
You'll find some nice examples on http://www.pwts.co.uk/ - and Alan will likely be the best person to ask what the weight on ebay most likely is - but read first his Guide plus his Article on Old English Weights.

Walsh Walsh continued until 1951 and most likely were making paperweights and related items (such as a candlestick I have) up until that time.

Hi All.  The canes are Richardson canes, so it is likely that they made it (but canes move around.....).

Incidentally, I agree that Bob Hall's book is the best reference around, but it does contain errors and needs updating.
