Zemek, Machovská or ?
« on: May 06, 2011, 05:14:49 PM »
Anik: a warning: this post contains graphic images of a basket. View at your own peril.

I'm sure this basket is Czech, but who made it, Mstisov or Karlovarské Sklo, and who designed it, Zemek or Machovská?

The basket is the same basic design as the 'Rhapsody' one shown by Jindrich at https://picasaweb.google.com/Jindra8526/FrantisekZemekRhapsody#5482521940194902274

Yet the same basic shape can be seen in the basket for sale by Wayne as 'Pizzicato,' where the colours are reversed from mine and Wayne's has bubbles in the applied sections. http://cgi.ebay.com/Mstisov-Czech-Glass-Pizzicato-Bowl-Hana-Machovska-/120714763546?pt=UK_Art_Glass&hash=item1c1b291d1a#ht_1741wt_906

Not a big deal, but it would nice to straighten it out. Any help gratefully received.

David, this is an interesting post. For the moment I am not sure. The closet similarity I see is to " the basket for sale by Wayne as 'Pizzicato," which I am sure is part of that range. This looks so similar yet just in a different colourway. Without concrete proof it hints to me Machovská. But of course, as you know, we know so little about her career. It is an interesting post and I do not have a definite answer.... (Also Karel Zemek designed some hot worked glass and worked at Mstisov, so I understand. Some of his designs look very Skrdlovice, Karlovarske Sklo too......) Attributions test us all at times..... maybe Jindrich can help us .....
