I have acquired a nice Nachtmann giraffe vase and another one with dolphins that I also assume to be Nachtmann. I suspect 90s (due to the linked elephant bowl, see below). I'm quite sure the giraffe vase is Nachtmann, as it has a Nachtmann etch mark on the base.

I know there is also a bowl with frosted elephants in this same collection (which I do not own yet), which has been seen with a Nachtmann etchmark on the base, but also with a Lenox etchmark 1995 on the base (http://cgi.ebay.com/Lenox-Parade-Crystal-ELEPHANTS-Centerpiece-Bowl-/150547808732?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230d5941dc). Apparently Nachtmann often produces crystal for other brand names, so I assume it's the same piece.

So, my questions:
1. Can anyone confirm that the dolphin vase is a Nachtmann? There is a lead crystal label on it, but no name, see third picture.
2. Does anyone know more of the designer, production dates, etc?
3. Does anyone know which other animals were given this sort of crystal treatment by Nachtmann?

I'd love to own more of these, I'm trying to find search criteria...

I've tried to contact Nachtmann to see if I could acquire some older catalogues, but though they were polite and reacted, they weren't interested in helping me out. Personally I think it would improve their brand name if they encouraged and assisted the collectibles market, but hey, that's just my opinion...

Hi Astrid,

I'm sorry to read that Nachtmann wasn't very keen on helping you out -- what a shame, both for the glassworks and collectors.  I just wanted to say your giraffe vase in particular is very attractive.  What a lovely display clear animal-themed vases would make.  :)

Well, I kept on searching myself and I finally found a reference today, apparently the pattern of the giraffe vase was called Safari, and they had several items in it with different animals. There is plate with lions, the already mentioned elephant bowl, and a lower bowl with something that looked like hyena's, panthers or perhaps monkeys (all I could see is that they had curly tails).

The dolphin vase is also by Nachtmann, from the same period, but a different pattern (but it wouldn't surprise me if it was by the same designer). The pattern was called Dolphin internationally, or Delphin in Germany, and there is also a smaller vase and a bowl in the same pattern.

HI, your dolphin vase matches my Nachtman dolphin bow and the other bowl that was mentioned has Cheetahs around the rim. There was also some Zebra candlestick holders as well as the elephant bowl.
