« on: May 18, 2011, 12:38:39 PM »
Quite a big lump this - green and blue swirls in an abstract pattern with bubbles - has Kerry Glass label and made in Ireland (see photos) - confusing is the base with IOW flame impressed mark - how can this be dis IOW own Kerry or did Kerry get IOW to make weights? - any help appreciated BTW its not that old (80s 90s?)  Thanks Adam

Michael Harris set up Kerry Glass as a joint venture with two friends he'd met in Malta, providing training and equipment and giving them some of his designs to start off with. It ran from '78 - '85.
Originally, they had a flame pontil mark exactly the same as the IoWSG one, but at some piont, it got lost, a new one was made, and it was a mirror image of the original.

Terence McSweeney was at Kerry Glass until it closed, and now runs Kerry Crafted Glass from a workshop in his back garden.  His pieces look almost identical to some IOW pieces.  Visited recently on a trip around Ireland.
