Neodymium bird - is it Murano?

Hi bought this recently- just thought it was cute. Seller said it was 1960's Murano. I know nothing about Murano

- When it arrived I found it was neodymium glass.

It is 24 cm or 9 a half inches  long beak to tail tip. 8cm or 3 inches high at head.
has quite a bit of wear to base - a bit hard to photograph it though.

Has funny stubby wings. look as if they have been cut off, but there is no roughness at all, beautifully finished - I'd swear it is how they were made.

So what do the experts think? is it Murano? and is it possible to date it and name a maker? Any advice welcomed.

Looks similar to Cenedese Antonio Da Ros work to me (but im no expert  :pb:)

Hi Michelle, thanks for that.
As I said I don't know anything about Murano - I only have 2 other Murano pieces, but one of them is a labelled Cenedese paperweight (with a "bloodspot" ) which has also been possibly attributed (on here) to DaRos - and I did think this looked similar. I will be very pleased if it is.

Thanks for your opinion - are there any other views out there??

Thanks Rosie - certainly the colours look a match, and there is just a similar feel to them - fairly abstract shaping, as is my bird. Although they didn't sell the guide price was a surprise - I only paid $20 for my bird  ;D  JUst liked his cute face and thought for that price I'd just enjoy him.

Just did a google images search on Cenedese birds and found this

Sorry - thats huge and don't know how to change it. its aflickr photo of a bird in the same colours and the birds face is almost identical to mine. so I am happy!

Mods - any chance of help with the link please?  Also could this be linked to the Murano list to see if any of the"Muranites" know any more??

Just an update

I have been bidding on other da Ros Cenedese pieces (unsuccesfully so far) but in the process have been in correspondence with this Ebay seller in Germany - and they seem to be somewhat expert in this field. (does anyone know of them??)  Design and Arts
I sent him a photo of my bird  - here is his reply.

I then asked him if he could point me at his source information or if he could just tell from his experience with da Ros' work.

So (Mods please) I wondered if this could be moved to Murano and see if anyone on that board may also have seen it before and be able to help me pin point where? I would like to buy the book if it is in one somewhere. Thanks

That's great, Jakgene!!  :smg:  Your bird is wonderful!!!  I would trust Design & Arts' input.  They seem to be a reputable seller and only buy fine art glass (non-tourist type glass).   I would place my bets on da Ros also.   You have another one under your nose the whole time.  I am sure you are floating in the air to find out this info on your bird.  I know I would be.  Congrats to you!!! :rah:
