First one I've seen,5 inch variety,is the circle in the base common on clear glass 'hanky' vases :huh:

The 5-inch one is not common, as
Chance Expressions
reveals. But the pattern had to finish somewhere, hence the circle!
Yes, it can be seen on all the handkerchief vases, but not the Gingham plates where it finishes with a pin-hole.
