Glass Paperweight ID Help
« on: June 08, 2011, 04:20:40 PM »
Hello all! Hopefully this doesn't double post - I was having a little bit of trouble with the attached pictures. I'm looking for any information you could provide on this paperweight.  I don't usually buy paperweights, but this one was just too pretty to pass up.  It doesn't have a signature anywhere on it that I can see and it is pretty large - it measures about 5" wide.  It has a ground and polished base.  I'm just including the one photo this time so hopefully it takes the post, but I have more if any are needed.  Thanks!

Welcome to the Board.

I am not at all sure about weights like yours, but I have seen similar work that was probably of Romanian origin. Trouble is, lots of modern makers have used a design like that, although the way the "pulls" seem to go in different directions might suggest a specific source.

Thanks for the welcome. :)  I haven't really been able to find any similar ones listed anywhere so I'm kind of stumped.  Some pulled feather (newer) paperweights that I found look similar..but like I said..paperweights are not my thing.  It has been getting a lot of attention sitting on the counter here at our shop today while I've been trying to figure out what it is though.

I did look up Romanian paperweights..and didn't see much at all.  But it was a quick search..I'll look more later.
