The first vase is 6 inches high and the bulbous part is 7 inches at its widest diameter. The decoration puts me in mind of some of the Mdina pieces but the glass does not seem to be similar to Mdina - glossier? It is a stunning, heavy piece and the decoration reminds me somewhat of plant cells - very organic!
The second piece alo reminds me of Mdina/Isle of Wight with the trailed glass decoration, very concentric in this case. This piece looks as though it may have had a stopper at some time - clear outer with cranberry inner bowl/bubble -4 inches high.
Can anyone please help with identification as I am obviously not looking up the correct books and/or websites.
Regards
John

John, pictures of the bases can tell us loads about a piece. I really like the second one with the threading and what looks like windows. Terry

Apologies, Terry. I've been a member long enough to have known that!!!
Here is picture of base of blue vase.
The cranberry trailed glass base is totally smooth and flat and will get photo posted soon.

Hi Sue
The blue vase belongs to Ronnie's father who bought it from an antique shop about 20 years ago and would like to know about it now.
The second one could be quite recent.

20 years ago sounds really ancient, but it was only '86! That's still new!
(to someone as ancient as me)
I'm sorry, John, but I'm clueless. I would probably start in an eastern european direction, though.

You are of course quite correct, Sue.
Since I made up my mind to retire this coming July, I'm trying to pretend that I'm not getting older, hence the 80s are the dim and distant past.
I will continue my search and research.

John
