Salviati birds - Gaspari?
« on: June 13, 2011, 03:57:01 PM »
Can anyone confirm these Salviati birds (Stickered to base) are by Luciano Gaspari?  I've seen them attributed that way on the Net, but I'm not certain about it.

They do have that Livio Seguso look about them.  What a great find! :hiclp:

Ahh...so not Gaspari then, but Seguso?  Thanks Tam Bam. Oh, I've had these for several years, so they're not a new purchase.   :D :D

Sorry, Max.  :ho:  I didn't mean to confuse you.  Livio Seguso did the actual execution of the birds but designed by Gaspari for Salvaiti.  Livio was the Maestro at Salviati at the time Gaspari was designing for Salviati and Gaspari's designs were excuted by Livio Seguso.  I found some other birds that look kind of similar.  I would certainly say yours are Gaspari designed.

Max, your bird bowls are so welcome in the zoo. If you would like me to add them, just email me the picture. I agree with Tami that they have a look that they were designed by Gaspari and executed by Livio Seguso for Salviati. The head and beak look like them. To add a little more about Livio, he was actually working with Barbini when he executed most of the Gaspari designs. Then he left Barbini to work at Salviati for a while. Livio makes glass & wood architecural pieces now that I don't like much.  I love his old work.
