Archimede Seguso Or Something Else???...
« on: June 18, 2011, 05:06:05 AM »
Bought this a little while ago and I can't find a similar example in my searches. I have seen 2 other vases like this piece, both were said to be Archimede Seguso. Just over 21cm tall and 9.5cm in dia. The glass is 2cm thick. Quite a heavy piece of glass. I thought I had seen this in one of my books but was wrong. It still has the glue residue from the label on the bottom but I can't quite make out if it is the scalloped edged. Lots of wear to the base. Archimede Seguso or not?

Couple of more pics...you can also feel the spirals on the inside of the vase as well.

Your vase certainly has the AS look.  I'll take a look around also for you to see if I can find anything similar to it.

Thanks cathy and tam bam... ;D

I have run out of search terms on this as I just keep getting hits on the A.S opalescent spiral pieces...and it definitely has the A.S look to it and i think the dimensions are right.

Hi kane I am sure it is AS but I have seen similar attributed to SvdA (maybe Poli). I have a perfume bottle in the same candy twist/sommerso format with the AS label and a bottle in Alabastro. You can safely attribute it to AS and if you look on the US ebay/ italian/ seguso there is two for sale there at the moment, one with a false signature (I think) http://cgi.ebay.com/Archidmede-Seguso-Spiral-Art-Glass-Vase-Murano-signed-/310290408503?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item483ebfe437

Your label could have been the oval AS one.

Great find, great vase.

I hate you.
Clean and Crisp a Murano twist.
Archimede tops my list.

Thanks ardy for the confirmation, I was confident it would be an AS piece but needed confirmation.

Since you already hate me, I paid $27 for it and was the only bidder out of 183 views.  :ooh:
