Archimede Seguso pheasants (I think)
« on: June 19, 2011, 08:24:35 PM »
I am looking for a little info on this pair of pheasants, I think they may be by Archimede Seguso but I would like other peoples opinions before I stick my neck out. I was also wondering when they might have been made and again I am guessing at 1950s or 60s.

I have been able to find lots of single examples attributed to AS.

They are pink with adventurine and stand on a clear and aventurine log, all on a clear base. 34cm long, 25cm high, polished out pontil mark to base.

Difficult to photograph these are not as good as I hoped:

John

Yes, they are Archimede Seguso. They have wattles, so I wouldn't say pheasants. Maybe cockerels with long tails? If you would like to have them in the zoo, just email me the pictures and I'll put them in there. They look just like the pheasants to me except for the wattles.

Thanks Anita and Rose. I see what you mean about the wattles Anita, I had not noticed that. They have wattles like AS cockerels but tails like AS pheasants, ergo they must be pheaserels or is it cockerants? ;D

When I have a photos of the two that I am a little happier with I will email them to you Anita. I have not quite captured them yet, partly the size of the whole thing and the different stances I think.
