Is this the same bowl/ashtray?  See the 1984/5 CGR article on Josef Rozinek:  http://picasaweb.google.com/Jindra8526/Glasrevue19845?authkey=Gv1sRgCKKwjMXF74rzoQE#5557146386783837778

Great observation, Anik! These do look like the same range as our pieces...

And we have a possible designer name and date as well (Josef Rozinek, early 1960s)

Greetings from hot Vienna (37°C today)
Michael

I think a certainty he was Borocrystal's 'legendary' master glassmaker and would certainly have been able to execute this piece...

Found this beautiful ashtray today from the same range (although in a rather unusual shape).
The colours in this one are blending much more delicately than in my other Borocrystal pieces...

Michael, forgive me for asking a stupid question, but does the top bit glow?  :-\
And is it really from the same range?  It seems a little less heavy and a bit more feminine.

Hi Anik, it doesn't glow, but it has the same neon-green colour towards the rim as my other pieces.

Not sure about what belongs to this range (I guess this style was in production for a long time), but despite of the shape it is very similar -- a blue blob in the clear base, and the exactly same shades of orange, pink and neon-green mixed in the top part. It has lots of wear so should have some age to it...

The (Czech) couple I bought it from had another ashtray from this range as well, similar to Astrid's piece - most part clear with the colours more in the inner part, and the typical blue blob in the base.

BTW, I have checked the other Borocrystal ashtray once under UV, but the green colour didn't respond, so not Uranium.
