Ichendorf German Vase Value Info?
« on: July 07, 2011, 11:00:00 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has ever found out any more pertinent information on the Ichendorf company or products, and more importanly, their proposed value? I found one and have posted it on eBay but I want to make certain I am not under (or over) valueing it. Thank you for your help!

Hi and welcome to the board
there is some information on this thread and if you put Ichendorf in the Search on this board I think a number of other threads will come up.
Hope this helps a bit

Hi! Thank you for the reply..I have seen a few posts but nothing on value for these pieces. I have only seen one auction on the internet and the sold price was in euros...

The fun of auction sites is that you do not have to bother with value. At the moment of sale a price is established and that IS the value - at least for a brief moment in time. There is no such thing as an independent price mechanism, it is all a Spiel between supply and demand.

German post-war glass doesn't have much of an established market value. It's a bit of a pioneer field for collectors and prices are generally still low, with the exception of a few bigger names (unique signed pieces will fetch of course a higher price). This Ichendorff is a relatively well known and beautiful piece, but it's not rare in my area (as I live in the Netherlands, which neighbours Germany). I've bought mine for EUR 20 last year, but I've seen them go for less and for (a bit) more. But of course, that's in Europe. There is no telling what US buyers might make of it.

Good luck with your auction,
Astrid
