 :hi::

I bought this as I was not sure, but it did have a label buried under some masking tape that was used like felt corners on it.  The label is a small oval *foil* label (red and gold) with just Japan on it.  So the ID is confirmed on this, just thought I would post as a FYI.  Each extension has a *notch* in it...

Are foil Japan labels -- older labels too?  It is kinda funky....  :24: and

Thanks  :kissy:

Do you have a picture of the label???

It is quite a good piece and i would gladly own it. Most likely late 60's to early 70's by the shape and colour. Need a base shot as well. Definitely by one of the better companies.

 :24: :24:  Watch out for what you wish for Kane.... :hm:  :24:

On the bottom was a heavy sticky type of white tape.  You can see in the middle of it (Pic 1) and the oval label was under it.  So I did peel back the tape in which pulled the whole label up  :o with the tape.  I slowly picked the label out from the white tape goo and ended up with the GOO all over in (Pic 2).

So I took a wooden toothpick and slowly worked the goo (like snot) off the label (pic 3).....it was like Major Brain er-r-r-r-r...... Glass Surgery, lol.  The label just says JAPAN on it, and is Red oval foil with gold lettering and a gold border going around the oval label......

I put it back where it went, and put the white tape back......(pic 4) is more of a base shot.

So since this is not a plastic label, or says "Made in Japan" but only Japan and a Foil label -- could this be a older Japan piece of glass?  Not sure, but it does seem to made a bit better than some other pieces I have seen......I also checked (just in case) to see IF any Glow --- Nope !!!

I might have to tell Santa to pick it up for you....   :ow:

Thanks Frank, I was worried by using the toothpick to rub the goo/tape snot away -- I might rub the letters (word) away too.....but it was successful.

I put the label back, and the tape back as it is (was).  I think the tape is just to hold the glass piece from slipping around like felt pads.  I just put everything back the way it was so IF I ever get rid of the piece -- the label and everything is still there.  Plus now that I pulled the label off the glass when I pulled up the tape -- I do not think the label would stay with it anymore.

So just put is all back the way it was.  You can't see the shape of the label as much under the white tape again, as I had not rub it down when I took that picture.

Kinda just wanted to leave as is, after I for sure ID what the label said.

 :thup: :thup: :thup:  Thanks Frank.

The older foil Japan label (2 colors, maybe) are older ones?  I guess....

If Anne (mod)  :anb: wants to add this to the label gallery (just to keep for now) in case we find info on date later -- might as well keep in label gallery.
