Rosice 2051 candleholder ?
« on: July 12, 2011, 04:01:34 PM »
I'm pretty sure this is the Rosice 2051 candleholder by Filip Milos from 1957. It has a partial label, can anyone confirm please?

Hi Anne... Emil appears to have the same candleholder(s) in his gallery: https://picasaweb.google.com/106370355733525107342/BohemiaGlas#5560691966806548050

Also, the 2051 candleholder appears for the first time in the 1957/7 edition of the CGR: http://picasaweb.google.com/Jindra8526/Glasrevue19577?authkey=Gv1sRgCLOBs4b2g6bvLg#5438382191099869890

I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be able to give you a definitive answer.  :hi:

I've got a small question.  :-[

How do we know that Milos Filip designed this candleholder?  I've searched the CGR, and as far as I could tell, it figured only once, without any attribution to a designer.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  Please?

Hmmm good question, not sure where I picked up the designer name from - it was scribbled on a scrap of paper in a pile on my desk, so presumably from googling some time ago.

Anne, in his CD database, Marcus Newhall gives Milos Filip as the designer of the 2051 candleholder. :kissy:   I was just wondering where he found that attribution.  It could certainly be that I missed something in the CGR.

Ahhhh right, that explains that Anik. :) I'd have found it in there then most likely... I have a terrible habit of jotting things on slips of paper which then form a pile on the side of my desk, and which are full of all sorts of odd info without sources! You've no idea how confusing it can be - especially if I just have a date and a time and no event, or a mobile number and no date...  lots of my glass notes are just a maker and pattern and sometimes designer but no evidence (which is very naughty of me) and sometimes I forget which piece it relates to so have to start over again!   :huh2:

I know exactly how you feel...  I take quick notes on those sticky back thingies, only to lose them because they stick to things they weren't supposed to stick to in the first place.  And if they don't get inadvertently stuck somewhere they shouldn't have, I often can't figure out what I wrote, or why I wrote what I did.  Gosh.

And then I've got my 'fancy' notebook where I take note of things which are of interest to me... my notes don't get lost, but the sense of the notes do.  Plus, my drawings which are supposed to help me identify and remember things don't look a bit like they're supposed to...  And then I think to myself "Why did I even bother?"
