Strathearn Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee 1977
« on: July 29, 2011, 02:32:39 AM »
I have a Strathearn Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Paperweight with a crown pattern of red and white millefiori.  It is numbered #84 but there is no indication of the edition size.  Can anyone provide any information about the edition size and also suggest a value?  The 1952-1977 EIIR is engraved in the back.  Thank you.

Hi Allan.

I believe the plan was to produce a run of 1000, but that this was cut back to 250.  As for current sale value, I would have thought similar to a reasonable spoke weight.

I have a copy of this weight I bought boxed with a certificate and, as Alan correctly says, the 1000 edition size is crossed out on the cerificate and overwritten by hand with 250 as I understand a pot broke while they were making this weight so they reduced the number made.

Thanks Dave, John, and Alan for the quick response.  The small edition size may help explain why I've never seen one before.
