You have to admire the simplicity of execution with the effect given, much more thoughtful than the photographically produced laser decorated pieces. I guess the designer will never be known!

Cool, just need the factory and designer now. Odd that the larger one on eBay is so different!

It's really Petřínská rozhledna - Petrin Tower in Prague :)

http://www.google.cz/search?q=pet%C5%99%C3%ADnsk%C3%A1+rozhledna&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&hl=cs&tab=wi&biw=1280&bih=903

I do not think mine is the Eifel Tower -- Maybe Michaela is right.  I just *assumed* it was the Eiffel tower.....but the link that Frank gave -- the Tower looks like it has different sections.

So maybe just a tower, until we can ID the tower.....lol.    I was the DOH one  :pb:  here !!

Assuming it was the Eiffal tower!!

Another example is here http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,32161.0.html

And a pagoda type tower with a probably older label here http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,43964.0.html

Rose, Michaela has identified the tower for you...  It's the Petrin Tower in Prague.

Anyway, I find it interesting that the piece has got both a 'Czechoslovakia' label, and a 'Czech Republic' label, probably indicating early-ish to mid 90s for this item.

Bohemia Exclusive is still producing similar items.  Scroll down in this link.

I thought we decided it was just 'a tower' as the design varies a fair bit... lets them be sold to all tower gift shops :) Notice that new one lacks the base grid. As the bottle with pagoda has an earlier label it is likely that they were being made well before 1996 & Bohemia Exclusive... who sound like a marketing company.

Can be very tough tracing giftware as no one wants to own up to it, despite this being a superb design idea.

Could be, although I've seen several with a markedly different tower. No links to prove it, though. :usd:

How fantastic to have an answer to which tower it is after all this time, thanks everyone :hiclp:  And yes, I agree, giftware or not it's a fabulous piece of glass X

I guess it was left up to the glasscutter to 'design' the tower and of course they were constrained by the size of the piece. As they get bigger they get even more elaborate. But I have yet to see one that actually matches a real tower and I have been looking.
