Hi

Here are two bowls I have had for a while, same shape and size 10.5” diam, 4” high – thick foot rim with pontil – both are mottled and have some uranium content, you can see this with the green one best, in good sunlight it glows blue around the edges – heavy at well over 1.2K each

Czech/Bohemian I think but any idea of maker?

Are you sure they contain uranium? To my eye, neither does. You've photographed in front of a window and you can usually tell from such a photograph

Hi Christine

Perhaps uranium is the wrong ingredient, the post was late last night - the bowls (the green one more) have a thick glass base that is not clear but slightly fluorescent (only word I can think of) - the rest of the bowl is made of the same glass and over and above the pattern colours in good light gives off a blue haze that seems at first more than mere opalescence or iridisation - it may be just that - I don't have a UV tester so cannot check in that manner.

Here are some more recent pictures

Taken with and without flash - you can see from the base all the way through the glass is really a slightly glowing orange colour.

I show the green and white bowl, there is no blue in it at all that is as said the opalescence. The red and white bowl is same.

Will try and get a UV test - I have opalescent items but they are not made from a vaguely glowing pale orange cased body
