Ebay auction #  130556683655  (current until 09 Aug, 2011  06:39:16 AEST) shows a pink vase with a most unusual base stamp.  Am I correct in believing it to be from Jersey Glass?

Thanks for that Kaz.  I could not find out anything about a Jersey glass.  I have an Island Studio Pwt from Guernsey but the base has a paper label.  I also have a small vase with the base stamp - but it was called Jersey glass and claimed to be made by a Michael Harrison.  Would they be the same studio - or were there two?

Guernsey and Island Glass are one and the same - one of Michael Harris' "turnkey" operations - where he provided training and some basic designs for folk to set up their own Studios.

I can only assume "somebody" added an "on" to the end of Michael Harris' name at some point - "somebody" not paying attention, obviously.

Guernsey and Jersey are different islands, aren't they?

Sue a quick scan of Mark Hill's book reveals there was a Jersey glass - also set up with help from Michael Harris - run by Nick Wirdnam - now a major force in Australian art glass having run Monash University's studio for many years.  I wonder how he signed his works in those days.  I might email him and see if he is prepared to respond.

That's the  base mark for Guernsey: three lions lying alongside each other, and that seems an awful lot of money for that vase!!

And to cap it all, (or not  >:D ) it's a tiny perfume bottle minus it's stopper.

Are you telling us Sue, that all small vases are not REALLY small vases.  I am shocked at the ethics of the Ebayers on the other side of the world!   :24: :24: :24: :24: :24: :24:

No Ross, just that I have two of these - one in ambers and one in blues - and they're perfume bottles, with stoppers.
