Amber glass pelican set by Bagley I believe?
« on: August 10, 2011, 01:30:16 PM »
Hi everyone
I have recently purchased this delighful little centrepiece set which I believe was made by Bagley.
The frog that the figure sits in has had some damage so I am going to keep my eyes open for another to replace it.
It's been a long time since I last visited the Pontefract museum which is only about 10 miles from me down the M62 so was wondering if they had one on display there?
I do remember seeing a koala vase and an Andromeda lamp on display but not sure of the Pelican.
Any input would be very helpful. Thanks in advance
Nige

Yes Nige I believe it is. You can compare it with this one on the 2nd Bagley page to make certain. Ken

Hi Ken
Ah yes I never think to look on Sues' Bagley page as I'm that obsessed with the Walther pages lol
Do you know if Bagley produced this set in a frosted glass? It has lovely detailing so I would imagine if they did do a frosted version it would look great!
Thanks for your input Ken.
Best wishes Nige

I have the uranium elf bowl if it's the 18cms diameter you are looking for.

Hi Glass wipe,
I do not have actual measurements for the bowl, but have now seen the elf bowl in three sizes and it is the largest sized one I need! The hole where the frog sits needs to be approx seven centimeters in diameter at the internal base and hopefully a little larger at the top (as the lip on the frog which does sit slightly above this) is 8 1/2 cm. If this bowl is the one you have and you are willing to sell I would love to discuss this with you.
Currently the frog and centrepiece I have sit in a queens choice bowl.
Nige, would you please be able to supply the correct measurements of the bowl for me?
Thank-you.
cheers
meegs

Hi Meegs
Top of the whole bowl measures 21cm across, the insert hole measures 8.5cm base underneath measures 10cm across.
Hope this helps!

Thank-you Nige, that is most helpful.

Glasswipe, unfortunately it sounds like your bowl is the middle size.

All the best,
Meegs

Angela Bowey's Bagley Glass book gives the 3 sizes of Elf posy as 5½", 7", and 8½" diameter at the top. (That's approx 14cm, 18cm and 21cm for you youngsters who understand this metrification malarkey!)
